WhatsApp launches video calling for Beta users

Meet Hackers

WhatsApp is probably the biggest messaging service in the world with over 1 billion users. The app is used by the people around the world for not just sending messages but also for making calls, rendering international phone calls almost obsolete.

The technology deployed by WhatsApp for making phone calls has completely disrupted the telecommunication industry, where callers, who would earlier spend several dollars for making international phone calls, can now do it just for data charges.

And now, WhatsApp has announced its most awaited feature – VIDEO Calling. Yes, and it will be soon available to everyone. Video calling will be introduced for the version 2.16.136 of WhatsApp and will be further available for all the future versions.

However, at the moment, video calling is available only for the beta testers. So, if you want to use this option of video calling from your WhatsApp immediately, you will first have to become a beta tester.

The process for becoming a beta tester is pretty simple. All you have to do is to visit the play store page on the screen from where WhatsApp can be downloaded. Scroll down the page where you will be able to see an option to become a beta tester. Just click on the link that says, “I am in”, and you are good to go. As soon as the beta versions are available in the future, you will be notified.

Once you have signed up for the best version, the video calling as well as other options of the new versions will be available to you before anyone else. However, to make a video call to someone, the same beta version should be available on the mobile of such users.

There is however, a caveat here. Beta versions are known to be unstable. So, before using it, you need to know this fact.
